The Power of Nettles – A Forest School Investigation

Years 3 and 4 had a great time learning about the power of the nettle. We were very lucky to welcome one of our parents, who is training as a herbalist, to show the children how to explore the culinary and medicinal properties of the nettle plant. The children found and picked nettles, investigated their structure with magnifying glasses and microscopes, learnt about their historical use, drew the plant in detail and tasted nettle tea. The children started by describing nettles as a bad plant and ended up thinking about it as a wonder plant! Thank you, Mrs Kuzmiakova, for this amazing experience and we look forward to welcoming you back to Forest School in the future.
