Based in the heart of Caversham, Hemdean House has been providing exceptional education to the children of Reading, Henley, Shiplake, Caversham and the surrounding areas for over 160 years.

We are a happy, caring community, with a family atmosphere where pupils, their families and our staff are valued.  Teaching takes place in small classes with each pupil receiving individual attention and being able to make their own, unique contribution to class activities and wider school life.  Some subjects have specialist teachers giving pupils a greater depth of subject knowledge.  Pupils grow in confidence as they work and play happily on their way to achieving their goals.

We offer several extra-curricular activities in sport, dance, music and drama and can provide after school hours care for all ages.

Hemdean House is not only an accredited  Forest School but we also hold a Woodland Trust Platinum Award and pupils enjoy many opportunities for outdoor learning in the private woodland within school grounds.

Visitors to the school are always welcome, so if you would like to know more about us please contact us by email: admissions@hemdeanhouse.co.uk, or by phoning 0118 9472590 (Option 2) and arranging a suitable time for a visit.

International Families

At Hemdean House, we actively welcome families from overseas for the duration of their stay in the UK whether for one term, one year or longer. The school is proud to be the educational solution for many families living in the area as a result of relocation posts. We provide a happy, friendly and nurturing family environment whilst supporting children from abroad settle into their new environment, integrate and continue their education in a new school and country. Testimonials and recommendations from international families with children currently enjoying their education with us, are always available.

Please note that at present, we are not a Student Sponsor licenced school and therefore cannot provide spaces for children requiring a Child Student Visa (was Tier 4 visa).
