Aims & Ethos

The aims of Hemdean House School underpin our policies, our ethos and create a safe and happy working environment. We look to:

  • enable pupils to fulfil their full academic potential
  • foster an enjoyment of work through the curriculum and extra-curricular provision
  • build pupils’ confidence and self-esteem
  • encourage consideration and respect for others
  • teach the value of self-discipline

As Hemdean House is built on trust and open communication, our ethos is to encourage respect, understanding, consideration and tolerance for others.

We value every pupil and believe in the development of the whole child. We help our children work on fostering their confidence, resilience and self-esteem and aim to create a life-long love of learning.

The combination of our individual approach to class teaching and small class sizes motivates children to be excited about learning and so achieve excellent academic results.

In addition, the school also offers a range of sporting, drama and music lessons with many of our pupils achieving excellent examination grades for a variety of instruments including piano, flute, violin, drums and guitar.

We will at all times be honest with our parents and give an insight into the school’s routines and educational philosophies. We wish to encourage you to be part of this open relationship as it is this team spirit that enhances the work that we can do with your children.
