Raj Roy

Raj has been a Parent Governor since the summer of 2016 and has a long standing 20 year connection and commitment with Hemdean House. He has 3 daughters, who all started at Hemdean House from Nursery/Reception age and have thrived. The school has given them a solid foundation both as individuals and academically.

As a Governor he strives to maintain and provide that level of education for future generations of pupils. His youngest is currently in her final year, his middle daughter went on to Highdown School while his eldest was accepted into Kendrick Grammar School. “As Parents, we have a role to play in supporting the school to go from strength to strength and when necessary make tough decisions and ask difficult questions.”

The family moved to Reading in 1988 from West London to set up a retail and sub Post office business. Raj graduated in 1990 with a degree in Economics and worked in Civil Service before moving on to become an internal auditor in Local Government. He then worked as a Public Sector Auditor in London for an Accountancy Practice before taking over the family business from 1996 running the Post Office that was the heart of the community for over 15 years. He now owns and successfully runs businesses in Lettings and Hospitality.
