Cross Country Event @ The Oratory

On Thursday, 2 March, James, Harry and Max from Year 6, along with Tom from Year 5, made the short journey into South Oxfordshire to represent the school at The Oratory School Cross Country event.
Conditions were perfect: mild and sunny, soft underfoot but not muddy. However, the course was tough. Starting on a long downhill, much of the rest of the 2.2km course was spent regaining the lost altitude with a heinously difficult uphill ‘sprint’ to the finish line.
The team had a tricky time negotiating the crowd of runners off the start line but Tom picked his way through the field brilliantly to come in 9th place. James was not far behind in 19th, Max in 22nd and Harry showed great grit and determination to finish 29th. As ever, The Oratory School were fantastic hosts and the day finished with sausages, chips and beans all round.
